Happy Father's Day!

Happy Father's Day to the most amazing man in my life! I couldn't ask for a better father to our children! I am thankful for how hard Matt works to provide for our family. I am also thankful for all the love and time he gives to our family. Most of all I am thankful that he honors his Priesthood and we are blessed to have such a wonderful example of service in our home. I could go on and on gushing about this man, but I'll end with words Chloe used in her talk today at church, "He is AwEsOmE!" (I'm hoping she'll post her talk on here later, it was great! It even made Matt cry- I can count on one hand the number of times I've seen Matt's eyes water from emotion, it was very sweet that his daughter touched his heart like that!)

Meow Monday

Our itty bitty kitty has been being extra cute lately......

Jordan and I cleaned his room a couple weeks ago. Since then Princess Fuzzyboots has taken over as if it were her room. She never liked to go in there before, but now that is where we always find her all curled up on Jordan's bed.

I finally got Matt to go to the doctor because he has been "hacking up a lung" for the past 3 weeks, and come to find out it isn't pneumonia or bronchitis like we thought, but is either allergies or asthma!! And the doctor said we shouldn't have a cat!! AAHHHH! For now Matt is doubling up on medication, he also sees the doctor again on Monday to possibly get an inhaler. He's been trying to steer clear of the cat. Problem is he likes her and the cat LOVES him......

I'm hoping the medicines bring Matt some relief, I'd really hate to see Matt go!! :)
Just Kidding! Ultimately, I choose Matt!! I guess I'll have to change 'Meow Monday' to 'Matt Monday'!

PhD (not referring to Doctorate or Doctor of Philosphy)

This post has nothing to do with the current doctors in our life at the moment, but is more about the nurses we encountered last week while Jordan was in the hospital.

First off, I have to give a SHOUT OUT to Andrea, Jess, and Lauren! They did an excellent job!! Anyone who has stayed in a hospital for longer than an hour, knows that nurses either make the stay less miserable or add to the misery of being there.

Andrea was our nurse the first night there. Every time Jordan threw up his bucket full of blood she was right there. Every time one of his machines even started to beep, she was there before it could even get a full beep out (which is key because machines beeping is really not conducive to rest/sleep.) She was awesome!

Jess took over for Andrea the following day. Bringing along his student nurse, Lauren. Jess is the first man-nurse we've ever had and he did an great job. The PhD comes into play with Jess. At some point during one of Jordan's vital checks, Matt (who had been on a work conference call in the room, talking his techie mumble jumble earlier that morning) made a comment that I don't recall exactly what it was, but a few minutes later Jess turns to Matt and says, "Oh, I forgot to ask you what part of the medical field are you in and where do you practice." This of course made us laugh, because this is not the first time Matt has been mistaken as a member of the medical field. Matt's PhD stands for Phony-Hypocrite-Deceiver instead of Doctor of Philosophy! LOL! Matt explained that he has nothing to do with the medical field, but is in fact just a computer geek in the technology world. This didn't seem to faze Jess who continued to pop in, aside from the usual vital checks, to chat about everything from Disneyland to Career advice (Jess wanted Matt's opinion because there's a path he could take that would delve deeper into the technology side of nursing.) Even at the end of the day with his coat and bag on, Jess still stopped in to wish Jordan luck and say good-bye to our family. That shows that nursing is more than just a job, Jess was awesome!
Lauren, Jess' student nurse really grew on us. We couldn't help but give her a hard time after my dad had asked her a question, she threw her arms in the air and said, "Don't ask me, I'm just a student nurse that doesn't know anything yet!" It was young, cute, and naive of her. But Lauren really showed she was on her way to becoming an awesome nurse. Especially on our third day she was back, this time following another nurse and she really shined as she helped clean Jordan up from all the blood and drainage from his nose before we headed home.

I am so thankful to those nurses that went the extra mile in making our stay a little more tolerable and for giving us the laugh of Matt's PhD!

Missing Pants

When there are narcotics involved and parental lack of sleep, there are comical moments bound to transpire in the course of the recovery period.

One of those comical moments came Saturday night/Sunday morning. It had been a long night. Jordan was not feeling well. He was in a bit of pain and had an upset stomach. He never threw-up but felt nauseous the whole night. He finally fell asleep around 3:30 am.

When he finally woke up around 9:30 am he was no longer wearing his red basketball shorts he went to bed in, but was now wearing plaid pajama bottoms. Both Jordan and Matt had no recollection when the switch had happened during the night or why the switch had happened.

I'm still wondering if Matt had some of Jordan's Lortab before going to bed! :)

The Sleeping Beauty

Matt took me and Chloe on a date last Friday night! We went to The Olive Garden for dinner and then to The Sleeping Beauty by Ballet West at the Capitol Theatre. This was our first professional ballet experience, and it was AMAZING! I don't think Matt enjoyed it quite as much as Chloe and I did. At one point he even leaned over to me and said, "I'm about to be the sleeping beauty!" Luckily, he has many months to gear up for The Nutcracker in December ! :)

January- Here Today, Gone Tomorrow

One of my New Year's Resolutions was to blog more often each month....nothing like waiting for the very last day of January to actually start working on that particular resolution!

Maybe it's because there hasn't been too much excitement around here. It's been kind of a "blah" month. We got a lot of snow in the beginning of January. It's been freezing cold (yes, I'm aware that it's winter......) I was sick on my birthday (booooooooo), the only bright spot is Chloe and Jordan spent a weekend down in St. George with their Grandparents. Matt and I wanted to go, but we had things come up, including preparing him for a business trip to Stamford.

I am glad January is just about over, it means we're one month closer to spring and that means warmer weather!!!

Always an Attitude of Gratitude

I didn't finish my gratitude posts in November & I feel like I can't move on to December happenings with the Roblyer's until I do so......

I was saving the best for last of course, so these last few are things I am eternally grateful for.

Starting with my favorite boy/manchild - Jordan. He is at that age where he is not quite a man, yet he is so tall that he's not really classified as a child. He is my baby and even though it drives him crazy, I still call him JordiBear! He will always be my JordiBear! I am thankful for Jordan because he brings so much laughter and fun to our family. I am thankful for Jordan's amazing attitude as he goes through all of his physical challenges. He always has such a great attitude with everything he has to deal with & I know it can't be easy for him dealing with all of these challenges and not having the normal 12 year-old boy life. Jordan is a great kid and our family is blessed to have him!

Next up is my sweet daughter, even though she is not always sweet to me (teenage-angst against mom, type of stuff!) Chloe is an amazing young woman. She is always doing some kind of service, whether it's baby-sitting for free in the neighborhood, or helping out around the house, she is always busy helping out with something. Chloe has an amazing spirit about her and is always showing a righteous example. When we aren't clashing, we are ROFL-ing (rolling on the floor laughing!) We always make each other laugh and it is fun. She is the best daughter a mom could hope for & I am thankful for all she brings to our family!
Matt is as amazing as ever! I am thankful for his dedication to his job and his desire to provide the very best for our family. I am thankful to his dedication to our Heavenly Father and his example of service within our home and outside. He is the best husband a girl could hope to have & I consider myself very lucky!

Last, but not least, Princess Fuzzyboots. I am thankful we have a kitty cat, and that she is so sweet and snuggly, for the most part, anyways! She did have a few psychotic episodes in the summer where she attacked Jordan & attempted to attack kids that were visiting us. She earned the name Princess Psychoboots, and I was sure we were going to have to get rid of her. But her and Jordan made peace and she is back to her sweet self, plus she is a cutie!
There are so many other things I am grateful for, but those were main things that I couldn't leave out of my gratitude posts!

My World Is Nuts

Matt was printing out some of his Prague pictures for my scrapbooking project, and, as Matt usually does, he decided to do something different while I was in the middle of a task. As Matt printed out the above photograph he also translated what the sign said - especially the phrase below my name. Matt was all full of chuckles as the translation came back as "World Is Nuts." He said that fit me perfectly.

Scrapbooking

After getting 400+ photos off the digital camera of Matt & Chloe's trip to Prague from this past April, I thought I was all set to get them into the scrapbook. Turns out it's a lot harder to scrapbook a journey I did not partake in.

Needless to say, I did not get a lot accomplished during my scrappin' get together with my friend Jenny, today. I did have a blast chatting & checking out her fancy gadget (The Gypsy), which is currently on my wish list!!

Chloe did save me and helped me organize and jot down names of buildings and places her & her dad visited while on the other side of the world when she got home from school. This is what the 400+ photos now look like all organized and ready to be put into the scrapbook!

I will post pictures of my progress as I get pages finished. I am giving myself ONE WEEK to complete this project. (Maybe posting this goal on here will keep me motivated with the project ;))

Fall Sunflowers

I finished another craft today with the help of Matt. Matt gets all the credit for sewing the twine into the middle of the button on one of the sunflowers. What a HERO! I have been doing a lot of crafts lately. I buy them from Heartland Paper in kits and I finish them at the house. Usually I do not have to have Matt help, but occasionally I need him (like with the sewing). Just don't tell Matt that I actually need him, that would make his head even bigger - it barely fits through the door now.

Now that I got Matt helping with crafts, my next job is to get him to take me up in the canyons this weekend to see the leaves changing colors. I am laying down a lot of hints, I hope he picks up on them.

Fifteen Years

It amazes me that we are celebrating 15 years of marriage on September 9th! We had planned to be in Hawaii for our 15th anniversary, but medical bills ate away our vacation money. We still had some money left to go play downtown for a few days- and play we did!!!!

We went to see The Lion King at the Capitol Theater. It was amazing. One of my favorite parts in that show is when the actors are dressed as the grass in the plains and are swaying like the wind is bristling through. It is so beautiful. The whole production is truly a work of art!

We tried to go to dinner after the show, which ended about 9:45, but who knew that downtown Salt Lake closes early?!? We ended up at the Red Rock Brewery Company which stays open til 1AM. They brew their own cream soda and it was yummy. My halibut was also tasty.

The nice part about staying at the Downtown Hilton is that it was perfect for walking everywhere. (Well, perfect for Matt to walk and push my chair!) The Hilton was nice, Matt surprised me with breakfast in bed. We then headed out for a day around the town, only as we were walking through the lobby to our surprise it was pouring rain. As we stood there discussing whether to take the car or risk a few rain showers as we walked, we got another surprise- Matt's mom coming towards us in the lobby! Apparently, she had a work conference she was helping out with. She introduced us to a few of her nice work friends and then Matt grabbed our umbrella and off we went just as the rain stopped. Lucky us!

We headed a few blocks over to The Gateway. We browsed some shops. Among my favorites, The Body Shop (they have my favorite coconut body lotion!), Coldwater Creek, and then the store of all stores- THE APPLE STORE!! Surprisingly I walked out of the store empty handed, and only because of the precious words that came out of Matt's mouth, "If you wait til April, I will buy you the V2 iPad." That's right ladies and gentlemen, you heard it hear first. In April, I will be the proud owner of an iPad!!! Can't wait!!!

We love movies, so of course we saw some movies. The first movie was Avatar in 3D. Luckily, for me, Avatar was brought back into the theaters with some newly added scenes. I know I am probably the last person in the country to have not seen it until now. Matt had seen it on his plane ride to Prague, but said it was much better on the BIG screen. It was another piece of artwork, so visually stunning. I really enjoyed it.

Dinner was a little disappointing. I'd been wanting to try the California Pizza Kitchen forever, especially since it is one of my good friend's favorite place to eat. It was not impressive. Maybe I ordered wrong, but my sandwich was not good at all and Matt's pizza only tasted ok to me. The Cesar salad and my strawberry coconut smoothie was delicious, though.

After dinner, we walked around some more before our next movie started. We didn't realize that we had a tradition to uphold- well, Matt had a tradition to uphold.....but as our second movie ended I turned to him and said, "You are not allowed to choose a movie we see on our anniversary, anymore!!" Matt wholeheartedly agreed with me that this is his 2nd time in a row to choose a stinker! The American with George Clooney, don't waste your time or your money!!

Walking through the city back to our hotel was fun. I also loved sleeping in the next morning! We made it to one last movie - Resident Evil 3D! I know I'm weird, but I like those kind of movies. Matt considers himself lucky to have a wife that will see the action movies with him!

We hurried home thinking our kids might want to come home, but our friends obviously spoil them or something because they begged to stay for a couple more hours. It makes me happy that my kids were well taken care of while we were gone and that they had so much fun with them!

I had so much fun celebrating our 15 year anniversary with the love of my life! I cannot believe 15 years has gone by, but I am looking forward to each and every year to come with this amazing man. He still makes me feel like the pretty girl in the picture above, after all these years- which clearly, I'm not. But it is so nice to have someone look at you and treat you like you still are! I absolutely love that man!!
